Catawba Valley Outing Club (CVOC), founded in 1984 in Catawba County, North Carolina, is an organization specifically tailored to the outdoor enthusiast to bring like-minded people together for outdoor activities.
Whether you enjoy cycling, camping, hiking, paddling, skiing or any other outdoor activity, CVOC provides the opportunity to meet people with common interests and immediately provides a network of outdoor enthusiasts to share their experience and love for the outdoors in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Group-oriented outings are scheduled often, usually weekly, and include hiking in surrounding area parks and mountains, and kayaking, canoeing and rafting the beautiful rivers, lakes and streams anywhere from Lake Hickory to many others in North and South Carolina, and as far away as Florida. Cycling is also a favorite, with trips made often to greenways in Morganton, Lenoir, Boone, and Ashe County.
CVOC meetings are held at 7:00 pm the first Wednesday of each month (except July and December) on the Catawba Valley Community College campus at 2550 Hwy 70 SE in Hickory, NC, Directions. The meeting will be in the West Wing (Room WW-121) of the main campus
building. Facing the college on US-70 at the stop light as you enter the
campus, the building is on your left. If you park in the first parking lot and
enter the building, take the first hallway to the right, and WW121 is at the end
of the hall; if you park in the second parking lot and enter the building from the back, it
is the first room on your right.
